Support Teacher
Emma Aglipay was born and raised in a tiny mountain town in Northern California. Her teacher father and social worker mother instilled in her the value of helping others, and she dreamed of becoming a teacher herself. Alongside many childhood and teenage activities, Emma volunteered in her elementary school's kindergarten classroom, babysat, and worked as a lifeguard and summer camp counselor.
Emma received her Liberal Studies degree and teaching credential from CSU, Chico. During her college career, she worked at a hands-on science lab, and volunteered as a 3rd grade soccer coach and at an Equine therapy organization. She also had the opportunity to study abroad in Malta for a semester. Upon graduating, she worked as a long-term substitute in a Special Education classroom and as an after school Reading Tutor. The following year, she worked at a Charter school and was trained as an Applied Behavior Analysis therapist. That was the year Emma fell in love with working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. She decided to further pursue this new direction by relocating to Portland, Oregon in the fall of 2010 to work at Victory Academy.
Emma has held a variety of roles at Victory Academy including Teaching Assistant, Lead Teacher, and Substitute Teacher. In between these roles she has also become a wife, and a mother to two beautiful daughters, and has worked as a Personal Support Worker and Direct Support Worker. She is currently working at Victory as a Support Teacher. Emma continues to be inspired by the amazing students and families she has the opportunity to work with!
When not at Victory, Emma can be found outside at one of the many local playgrounds with her children, taking care of her pets and busy household, or exploring all the wonderful places the Pacific Northwest has to offer!
