Victory is grateful to all of our generous partners. Your support provides us the opportunity to improve and enrich the lives of children, teens, and young adults affected by Autism.

Community Partners

Community Based Instruction (CBI) is imperative for Victory students and their learning experiences. Students participate in weekly or twice-weekly CBI in order to generalize the academic and social skills learned in the classroom. For example, during CBI, some of our elementary-aged students have been practicing staying with the group, finding items in a store, and practicing social skills. Others have been learning how to cross the street safely, read prices, identify different brands of products, and use the Dollar-Up Method to estimate the cost of an item. While on CBI, our students work on a variety of skills, including reading maps, balancing a budget, and communicating successfully with store employees and other community members.

In the Work Experience (WE) Program, students (age thirteen and older) gain foundational employment skills through multiple internships. Students are exposed to a variety of jobs, receive direct instruction in job-specific tasks and transferable skills, engage in comprehensive preference tracking, and are provided opportunities to increase independence. WE is designed to prepare students for adulthood, supporting each child's gifts and challenges, while explicitly teaching skills for these students to lead the most productive lives possible. Since January 2016, Victory's WE Program provided 22 students (aged 13-18) a total of 108 vocational training rotations, lasting from three to eight months. Currently, Victory has partnered with 18 employers in the greater Portland metropolitan area. One student has even been hired at Wilsonville McDonald's following her WE Program assignment.

Community-Based Instruction (CBI) and Work Experience (WE) are core tenets of Victory's curriculum. Designed to foster independence, communication, and life skills, CBI and WE take Victory students into the community every week.
