Daniel Ferm

Support Teacher

daniel fermDan is originally from Boston and graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Film Studies. Soon after, Dan began playing bass and touring the world with his band, Speedy Ortiz, for the next 6 years. Although it was an amazing and unique experience, Dan decided to move onto a new line of work.

He has always felt connected to education and autism because of his cousin Jack (who has autism), and so he pursued a teaching career. After graduating from Lesley University with a MAT in 2020, Dan began working in many different teaching roles: special education for 4th and 5th graders, social studies and language arts for 7th and 8th graders, and then, once moving to Oregon, social studies and language arts for 6th and 7th graders. Despite these being challenging and rewarding experiences, Dan wanted to specialize more in autism education and be able to dedicate more individualized attention to students.

In his free time, Dan enjoys performing music, watching movies, playing video games, going on hikes, and cooking. Additionally, he spends a lot of time with his pets: Bagels, his grumpy Persian cat, and Ted, his grumpy bearded dragon.
