Sara, a San Francisco native, has over a decade of experience teaching and supporting individuals of all abilities. Her background as an art educator led her to Oregon to pursue a Master in Special Education. After graduating from Portland State, she spent two years serving with Peace Corps Kenya, teaching multiple subjects in a special needs school for the Deaf. Her passion for world travel and teaching led her back to East Africa in 2015, where she spent a year developing a special education program for an international school. She developed curriculum and policies that allowed for the school to be more inclusive in their teaching practices and admissions for special needs learners.
In her free time, Sara enjoys spending time outdoors whether its surfing, camping, or just reading in the sunshine. She practices yoga and meditation which she plans to incorporate into her teaching at Victory.
Whatever Sara is doing, her work has been person-centered and behaviorally focused, knitting together past and present experiences to create a holistic learning environment. She feels blessed to be joining Victory Academy for the 2018-2019 school year and cannot wait to create a classroom filled with wonder and tenderness.
